In the long run, you're better off with this game simply because native mod and asset support can take this game in so many directions. I have enjoyed both games equally, but for different reasons. It really depends on what type of gameplay you prefer. Cities: Skylines is focused more around building a large city and setting up a good traffic and public transportation network. You spend more time "polishing" what you already built. To me the biggest difference is that SimCity has more in-depth simulation and micromanagement on almost every aspect of the gameplay. This pretty much sums up my thoughts too. Simcity 5 has alot of features that skylines don't and vice versa. โพสต์ดั้งเดิมโดย Bertsies:Both games are quite different. The most annoying one is the mass deathwaves lol. Although this game is not that buggy but it can be annoying someitmes.

simcity offers this too but i feel that this game does it better at least slightly.īoth games however are buggy. However skylines does alot of things that simcity does wrongġ) there are more flexibility in designing your traffic and public transport, you can freakin design your routes!Ĥ) there is a sense of progression as you unlock buildings. People take days to get to work and back home lol.ģ) natural resources actually has a function other than generating money.Ĥ) the cities of tomorrow expansion pack makes your city look very futuristic and awesome Simcity 5 has better graphics and in my opinion better simulation because of things that skylines do not have:ġ) day and night cycle + natural disasterĢ) the sims have a daily routine, going to work shopping going to school, so there are peak hours and stuff. Still, it's close enough that the real winner is just a matter of preference. Both games are quite different. While SimCity isn't without its merits, it's no match for Skylines, the new champion of the genre.

While that's no huge loss, if you want to download SimCity, you'll have to use Origin, which means that this one goes to Skylines, as it's available through Steam.

In terms of platforms, both play on PC and Mac, but only Skylines is available on Linux.
#Simcity 5 cities Offline
While that's still fun enough, it keeps the game somewhat predictable, so SimCity wins this one.Įach game also has an offline mode - as much of SimCity's disaster of a launch was linked to its poor implementation of forced online connectivity. Skylines has no such feature, instead you just keep building. You Mean Business: Plop every City Specialization HQ in the.

Aqua Max: Have a city that has over 100 kgal of water needed per hour. Sludge-Free H-2-0: Pump 50 kgal of fresh, clean water in an hour. All Aboard: Have 1,000 Sims take the train in a day. One of the signature features of the SimCity series is the disasters that force you to adapt and rebuild, and those return in the most recent game. A Streetcar Named SimCity: Have 1,000 Sims travel by streetcar in a day. If you're getting into city building and want to manage all the little details down to a T, Skylines is the one that will let you do it. However, this one goes to Skylines, due to its advanced map editor, the ability to construct damns for hydroelectric power, and the need to build powerlines and pipes to keep the city running. They both offer a huge amount of customization, and SimCity has an expansion pack that offers even more. In this category, Skylines wins, hands down, with a map of 36 square kilometers, or nine times the size of SimCity.īoth games support the modding community, so customization is a big part of each game. While it's not the only thing, as games such as this thrive on the amount of detail you're able to put into your city, the size of your sandbox does a lot to limit or expand your vision. In a game focused on city building, size definitely matters. Please note that, while SimCity's launch was a disaster, this comparison will focus on the current states of both games.
